All right..understatement. If I was Light right now? I’d be on a wild whirlwind of joyous crimson carnage. Me? I settled in to write the third book – Blood Renegades. Any excuse to listen to its music…seriously, you’re going to love it.

HALLOWEEN CONTEST – Who Believes in the Paranormal?

Halloween. Just around the corner. Enticing us with parties, pumpkins…and killer clowns. Oh, and the Halloween Sale of Blood Dragons. Only 0.99… I’d make a spooky price joke here but…I’m still caught up on the clown thought. Blame reading It at too tender an age.

I also opened the Official Bloody Halloweenfest on Friday, kicking off three days of contests, reveals, giveaways, excerpts and dark fun. Have a look here

believe-bracelet I held a Halloween Contest to win a handcrafted BELIEVE bracelet. Entrants had to answer this: Mulder always wanted to believe… On Halloween, in what do you want to believe? Vampires or werewolves? Witches… or kick-ass superpowers to take on the undead? What do you believe – all right, wish, walks the same streets as us humans?

I was blown away by the answers – insightful, funny and passionate about the paranormal… Yeah, I struggled to pick a winner.

It looks like we want to believe in vampires, werewolves, shifters, witches, magic and the thin veil dividing our worlds… to mention just a few. Read the brilliant responses here

20 BLINDING ENGLISH SLANG WORDS AND PHRASES YOU NEED TO KNOW

Light is a British vampire – not in doubt from the very first line of Blood Dragons: ‘You know those vampire myths? Holy water, entry by invitation only and sodding crucifixes? Bollocks to them.’

I wanted a fantasy novel with a British vampire front and centre. Neither the love interest. Nor the sidekick. But the antihero at its beating heart.

A Londoner born in the Victorian age, Light takes on the persona of a 1960s Rocker. He loves only two things: his Triton motorbike – ‘a sodding scarlet slash of beauty…and my bloody god’ and his Ace of Spades leather jacket. Unless you include Ruby: ‘my red-haired devil, Author, muse, liberator…my gorgeous nightmare.’ Or Kathy… And then there’s Grayse…

But being boldly British – a mix of Victorian and 1960s – Light has a way of speaking, which is all his own.

So here’s 20 Blinding English Slang Words and Phrases You Need to Know
