Naked and defanged, Light wears one thing throughout : his S.L.A.V.E. ring. But Light? He won’t be owned. He’ll battle to the end for his family, species and love. The ring? Becomes a symbol of everything he’s both fighting for and against, ‘Unexpectedly your fingers were tracing over my ring – S.L.A.V.E. – as if discovering something dark beneath bright waters…’
Blood Dragons is all about love. Light finds a way of loving, which can be free, as well as a love for the world (humans included). The vampires are Blood Dragons because it’s all about the blood: ‘Bugger me it felt blinding: warm in the cold, beating and pulsing. Alive even in its death.’ (Blood Dragons)
In a world where even the butterflies are mechanical – let alone the humans’ mechanical hearts – Light will be burnt at the stake if he can’t judge between hunter and hunted. ‘Steel, iron and titanium, but swarming with butterflies, moths and flowers. A breathing animal, which could swallow you.’ (Blood Renegades)
Blood Lifers’ venom stops humans’ hearts, as if they were clocks. Like humans aren’t truly alive. Until Light realises the divide between the species isn’t so great, humans aren’t simply prey and maybe their hearts aren’t clockwork if they can love… ‘It’s the natural order. We would not have these,’ as Ruby’s two thin canines extended, Grace squirmed frantically, ‘or our venom, which paralyzes and stops their weak hearts, as if they were clocks.’ (Blood Dragons)
Tuus Sum: in Latin means ‘I am yours’. Light’s a slave to his love, although he’ll never be a slave: ‘I crave every ounce of love squeezed dry because I give every drop myself.’ (Blood Renegades)
Es Meus: in Latin means ‘you are mine’. Light isn’t the only one to love obsessively; Blood Lifers and humans crave to own him. It’s only Grayse, however, who loves him enough to free him too: ‘ ‘He’s mine,’ you clutched my wrist so tightly I could feel blood rushing into bruises. ‘I’ll train him.’ (Blood Shackles)
The most powerful and ancient Blood Lifers – legends of the vampire world. ‘The passionate kiss was gentled with intimacy. The Magnificoe cocooned me in the scent of ripened oranges with a hint of cypress, like we were lovers under an Italian sun.’ (Blood Renegades)
Serpens Aeternam: in Latin means ‘eternal serpent’. Blood Lifers don’t live forever but longer than any man could wish for, especially if you’re cursed to never forget.
‘Sun entwined around me like a steel snake; her bite into my jugular was explosive rainbow end of days.’ (Blood Renegades)
Ignis Caritas: in Latin means ‘fires of love’. Light flames with love; he’s consumed by it. Obsession? Doesn’t come close. Light walks towards the fire; he burns himself because he knows he’ll always be caught in the blaze: ‘When was I frightened of the flames?’ (Blood Dragons)
Music Amans: in Latin means ‘music lover’. Light is a music fanatic: born a Victorian, yet he’s reborn a Rocker. We all choose our own identities through our music: they sing to our Souls. ‘In the dark, I put on The Rolling Stones. It was like coming alive.’ (Blood Shackles)
Draco Rebellare: in Latin means ‘rebel dragon’. Light’s a rebel to the core; he’s an individual. ‘Society’s the prison we volunteer to lock ourselves in. Yet it’s a fantasy because it’s built every day on lies…’ (Blood Dragons) We can imprison ourselves or set ourselves free because rebel here, yeah?
Et Eius Unum: in Latin means ‘him and her united.’ Light is swallowed by the black without the women he loves and who love him. Together though? He can save the world. ‘Two lovers were forbidden to be together. But on their deaths, their Souls finally came together as two birds.’ (Blood Shackles)
Amoris: Love. In his First Life, Light didn’t know love. In Blood Life? Only what his controlling Author taught him. Yet he finds himself bound by love in new ways, which he doesn’t want to break: ‘I was nobody’s slave, yet I belonged to Sun, even if she’d never be mine.’ (Blood Renegades)
AVAILABLE IN BLACK, CHAIN AND MULTIPLE COLOURS.
Modere me: in Latin means ‘bite me’. There’s nothing like that moment when fangs sink through flesh: ‘when your fangs slice through – deep, deeper – you hit the blood, and then the taste explodes. The drag, as you fight for each pull: the predator’s conquest.’ (Blood Renegades)
Filli Noctis: Children of the Night. The only bollocks vampire myth that holds true: night walking. Yet it’s Kathy – a human – who becomes Light’s Moon Girl in Blood Dragons, crossing the divide of species. ‘You looked like some little Moon Girl, shimmering in silver. I would’ve blasted into space with you in a bleeding heartbeat.’ (Blood Dragons)
The secret heart of Blood Life – because it’s all in the evolution. ‘More Komodo dragons. Green, grey and uniform stone. In fierce barnies and slaughtering prey. I stared between them in silence, mesmerized.’ (Blood Renegades)

Animus: in Latin means soul, mind, heart.
‘All was nothing outside our love. It smashed on us. Broke on us. We savaged it.’ (Blood Dragons). And everything comes down to the –beat – beat – beat of the heart.
Diligo: in Latin means esteem highly, prize, love.
In Blood Life emotions are amplified: ‘They survived but twisted, like a blasted tree after lightning. Where once they were pale and sickly, now they were intense, powerful and dark.’ (Blood Dragons) Light fights for those he loves. He suffers, endures…saves the world. Love, yeah, he was always one for that.
Ambrogio: in Italian means “immortal”. It’s the name of the famed Italian hunter who became the first vampire of legend. Some vampires, out of reverence for their maker, take the name “Ambrogio”.
But Light? Doesn’t believe that bollocks because: ‘There are no monsters and no immortals. There’s just us: the Lost.’ (Blood Dragons)
Anartia is a butterfly found in tropical areas in the Americas. Beauty pinned and trapped or unfurling from the cocoon and spreading its wings – to freedom.
‘Hartford was locked up for so long it’ll take time for him to walk in the world again. Yet when he does..? He’ll soar above it, like a bleeding butterfly.’ (Blood Shackles)
Dissimulo: in Latin means cloak, keep secret, hide.
Once Blood Lifers were safe hiding in the shadows. Camouflaged to feast on human prey. But then the humans became the predators – secret experiments, alliances and conspiracies – tearing both worlds apart. ‘I couldn’t hide in the safety of the shadows. I had to go back: to where I was loved. To where I belonged.’ (Blood Shackles)
Libertatem: in Latin means freedom.
In Blood Shackles Light is hunted, defanged and enslaved. He learns that: ‘Freedom means so little, until you lose it.’ (Blood Shackles) He fights to free his family, species and himself. Yet there are many types of freedom: in our minds, between lovers and in a fair society. Rebel here, yeah? We can all be slaves. And we can all free ourselves.
Mercuria: in Latin means luck.
One thing Light definitely needs..? Good luck. ‘‘And that’s all you Blood Lifers are? Unlucky?’ I laughed…this furious laugh. For once, you backed up a step. ‘We’re many things: lovers, explorers, chancers and predators…’’ (Blood Shackles)
Servitutem: in Latin means bondage, servitude, enslaved.
Light is a slave to love. To his Author Ruby. The darkness of a second desperate and brutal world of blood. But he’s also a true slave. Bought and paid for, like a puppy in a shop window – unless he can free them all. ‘I’m not a slave; I’m the bloody superhero.’ (Blood Shackles)
Vinculum: in Latin means captivity, chain, prison.
Light is bound in Blood Shackles, imprisoned at Abona House with his family. But we’re bound by more than shackles – like Light, we’ll always be bound by our hearts. ‘‘No one’s born to be a slave,’ you hugged me. ‘I want you back. I need you back. And so do your family. We need you, Light.’’ (Blood Shackles)
The Jade Spider spins her web. Waiting…listening…plotting. ‘Everyone’s frightened of spiders. But it’s only the fly which need fear.’ (Blood Renegades, RELEASED JUNE 2017)
Iluminism: The Tree of life can mean knowledge, wisdom, and an insight within one’s self. Iluminism is Latin for Enlightenment.
A branching tree is a central image in Blood Renegades: the symbol for evolution. ‘It was stamped with this logo – this branching black tree.’ (Blood Renegades, RELEASED JUNE 2017)
Desmodontinae: Vampire bats’ food source is blood. This is called hematophagy.
Vampires turning into bats..? Bollocks myth number eleven…Still, Blink loves them. ‘Blink was wearing a t-shirt with cartoon vampire: cute little fangs and bat wings. Sodding perfect – the vampire kid had a sense of irony too.’ (Blood Renegades, RELEASED JUNE 2017)
Desmodus Draculae: an extinct species of vampire bat, which inhabited South America during the Pleistocene period. It was 30% larger than the common vampire bat.
Maybe the source of the bollocks myths about vampires? But the truth is: ‘We’re a life born of fangs. It’s in the venom. Death and life – it’s all the same to us.’ (Blood Renegades, RELEASED JUNE 2017)
